The Christians of Ukraine nurture over centuries a pious devotion to the First-called Apostle Andrew. In honor of his name were named monasteries and churches; his name bore Princes of Rus’ and monks. The Council of Kyiv 1629 proclaimed him Apostle of Ukraine (1).
